Phil Foreman (that's what you use on FB to check out my background), in the process of building a support unit with objectives focusing on (1)food acquisition, storage, delivery and preparation in kind and provisioning training for field exercises, emergencies to support local entities and on deployment.(2) Organizing, scheduling and providing training sessions as required by unit commanders focusing on Management, Leadership, Training, Team Building, Organizational Design and development and whatever else a unit command may require. Spearhead here is teaching others how to teach. I am actively recruiting for group members to focus around the Athens Ohio area and serving Southern Ohio. Unit designation is Southern Ohio Logistics Operations (SOLO). Make no mistake, this is not a staff agency but a line unit of trained, skilled, riflemen who will fill a support need to our community and our milita. I'm also toying with the idea of a centralized recruiting function within SOLO for the purpose of recruiting for all units within the state. This may duplicate or overlap local unit efforts but I think might be a good idea. Feedback is requested.I would like some help designing a unit crest and penant. My thoughts for the crest are an outline of Ohio with with the Gadsden flag in yellow filling the outline and a ribbon beneath with the unit name and abbreviation. Any artists out there or photoshop folk who could put this together for us would be appreciated. Let me know your thoughts.

If one of you Unit Commanders has a Charter, Articles of Incorporation/Inception etc. I would appreciate a nudge. Let know how you have established your unit or how it was established. Thanks in advance.

I need all the help I can get for my state of Montana. They way it looks now, if two people get together for training or just about anything a group would do? We will go to prison! NOT Jail but PRISON!!! I an 62 years old. And have a hard time with this computer thing. I know this is dumb on my part. But I don't know what to do. Most are unwilling to even talk about forming a group. It did make me stop and look when I saw what the GOV. could do! Anybody have a idea where I should go to find out how to do this legal? I understand why people don't want to even have a meet and greet!!! Montana followed Cali. law on groups. So, anybody? Thanks. As Always, " I live my life, that when my feet hit the floor in the morning, the devil say's " OH CRAP!!! HE IS AWAKE!!! " P.S. My e-mail = fujimo-7@myway.com Thanks All.

Hmmmm I can't imagine Montana interfering with a citizens' right to assembly or freedom of speech. I think I might look around for existing functions like shooting, hunting, sportsman, or gun clubs for individual training and competitions as a hobby. Might just happen to have friends there who are of like mind and hobby orientation. You might want to speak with an attorney and tell him your intent and ask what you need to do to form a group. You might find one in one of those clubs mentioned who could be helpful. Any attorneys around here who might be able to help out please feel free to jump in.

The same applies to Massachusetts. We may have had the original American Revolution, but our wonderful, Gov. Duval Patrick, has stated anyone trying to form a militia unit would be subject to arrest and of course the loss of a firearms licence.

Go over to the Montana groups Ted. They will be of more help. I looked at Montana Laws and they seem to be afraid of something. Whatever you do keep it legal all the way. As for me I think fairly strongly that keeping it visibale is equally important but then that is just my opinion. The way Ohio law is written, virtually everyone belongs to either the Organized or Unorganized Militia. I think probably what is causing the fear and red flags is the "DIS"organized militia! {8<{)

Thank you Chancy. The primary thing I was trying to dig out was are the units incorporated to limit liability, become a tax free entity, etc. I will take a peek and bounce it off the walls and see what sticks.

I agree. My first objective is to keep us as free as possible from government oversight and out of jail. I guess organizationally a club environment makes sense. So along with all the other things I have to do I need tlo put togwether a membership package. Yancy, what are your folk using for grade insignia if you are using anything at all?

South Eastern Ohio guys (especially Athens County): I am in need of a dozen or so volunteers who actively monitor radio channel scanners covering the Sheriff, Highway Patrol and Emergency Response channels who wouldn[t mind a little work. The hours are terrible, pay is lousy, and the tangible rewards are bags under the eyes, tired bones, and coffee breath.
