WRAM - We dedicate our hearts, minds and bodies to protecting our great Republic!
Several years ago I worked security for one of the country's largest banks. Being in a large city, we of course were open to various elements of crime, rape being one of them. To ensure the safety of our women employees, I coordinated with the local police department to have an officer come twice a month to teach women how to defend themselves with the mere contents of their purse and even with what they were wearing. Hairspray or anything that sprays, pencils, pens, keys, high heels, etc. You get the picture.
I would like everyone to step out of the box and put your thinking caps on. Go around your home, and ladies again check your purses, to see how many available weapons you can find. Of course the obvious is guns and knives, but shouldn't we be thinking of other items we could use?? What about anything glass....it could be broke and used for cutting, salt, sugar, seasonings, flour can be thrown in the eyes, or better yet anything that sprays, hairspray, bug spray, air freshner, deoderant. Kids toys.....how about that baseball bat, pair of skates, etc.?? How about that set of deer antlers on the wall or how about any tools that you keep around such as a hammer, screwdriver maybe even a hacksaw?
I think everyone gets the picture.......go to everyone room of your house and make a mental note of what you can use to defend yourself.....it may come in handy.

Permalink Reply by MRS MM on February 26, 2012 at 8:31am So true Doug, everyone has magazines laying around.
I have so me thought in this area, For the number one tool I think situational awareness is the most important ;My experience is 21 years behind the fence working in a prison where the only weapon that you have is an ink pen and a radio. There is a lot of predators out there so Ive learned a lot. Having your eyes open knowing your surroundings ; How many people are around you. Who looks out of place. At night always park in a well lighted area and as close to the the door as possible. If you can park where you know a camera can see you and your car. .Note most predators look for these very things. Have your keys in your hand and ready to go, as you approach your car look in to the back seat area, If you have a trunk on the car as you approach the car do it from the rear so that you can place your hand on the trunk to make sure of it being locked, plus approaching from the rear allows you to see what in the back seat, with out directing attention to your self. Be very aware If a van is parked next to you on the driver side of your car; This situation could set the stage for ie, kidnapping, robbery ect.
Next I want to talk about the importance of mind set, If you appear to be a victim you will be.
Predators pray on the weak and frugal first, next they pray on targets of opportunity.
You want to appear confident, don’t be on the cell phone walking to your car, most people move through life with blinders on, And your mind is on auto pilot. A good rule of thumb for the ladies is don’t Carrie, your money, credit cards or you pistol in your purse. Why you asy. Cause that is the target. If a person comes by and snatches your purse,
1. You don’t have to fight over, something that you can replace.
2. You have to remember that any weapon you have can be used on you. Example, how many police has been shot with their own gun.
3. If you use a spray, hair spray. Pepper spray, on these things you have to consider if you are in a struggle there is a chance of cross contamination. This means now you cant see either.
4. Make lots of noise, scream, fight. Run back into the store.
If you have any question please feel free to ask. We are all here to help.
Permalink Reply by MRS MM on February 28, 2012 at 9:39am That is the main point.........know your surroundings and be very aware. All the things you have pointed out here Dick, is the very same as what the leo told us when I worked at that bank. Really alot of it is common sense too....as you said though some folks have blinders on. Another thing the officer told us was to be careful how provocative we dressed and to dress sensibly. While high heels can be used as a weapon they are very hard to run in.

Adam Kokesh is promoting an armed march on Washington DC to demonstrate that we will not give up our guns. I just don't know about that, itseems very risky and could backfire. All you need is one agent provocateur who fires a shot and it could go…Continue
