Hey Yall, I'm interested in getting my first Assault Rifle. What would be a good entry level Rifle that wont cost me a Fortune and will last a long time (I'm not fixin to buy another one anytime soon thereafter, know what I mean!)

Thanks,

Eric

the 5.45 is a great round but in a shtf world or time where are you going to find that round

If you live in California or a similar Commie state, the SKS. AR-15's and AK-47's with detachable magazine or pistol grip are illegal here. So are magazines over 10 rounds. Yeah some guys have a "bullet button" to remove their mag using a bullet instead of finger, but our Commie legislature is lining up to eliminate that option following the Colorado and Wisconsin false flag shootings. Any modern weapon will be bludgeoned back to Garand/SKS technology.

A lot of people on here say "they will never take my guns", well what about people like me who cannot buy a militia weapon in the first place that has any chance against an Army with Squad Automatic Weapons, night vision, tanks, and attack helicopters? They have 100 times the firepower we are allowed to have.

You might even want to think about a good tactical shot gun. I got a Chinese made clone of a Remington 870. Called a Hawk 982. I've seen them for less than $200. Mine shots well and is surprisingly accurate with slugs. If you are set on a rifle. look at the WASR10/63. Make sure that the WASR is a /63 model. There are a lot of junk WASR 10s out there. Also, you may want to look at a Saiga IZ 132 in 7.62x39. It is a sporter version of an AK 47. It still shoots great. Only problem is that it only takes Saiga mags in the sporter configuration (around $500).For about $150 you can convert the IZ 132 to an AK 47 configuration that will accept regular AK mags. The conversion process is quite simple. Takes about 2 hours, no special tools required. All you need is basic mechanical skills. There are several videos on youtube that show how easy the conversion is. Hope this helps.

not to keep poking at you chucker lol but that is why i have converted my ar`s to a piston system and keep a couple extractors on hand. not trying keep aiming at you

Chinese Para SKS and M1A are my California Militia desired weapons rather than Go "Featureless" with my AR pattern Rifles. I will retire my AR uppers to Safe & disasemble my lowers completly to unbuilt OLL .

If SB249 passes in California it will reduce cost of AR pattern Rifles & Parts & Accesories by 25% Nationally =Good Lowers ($49.00 to 89.00) BCG ( $75.00 to 95.00)Complete Rifles ($350.00 to 650.00)

How do you figure that?

It may be a moot point if 249 dies in the Senate today but if 150k + AR Pattern Rifles flooded into the Market from California over a Month or two period and The sourcing of Parts Rifle & Lowere Recievers flowing into California were permanantly dried up & Cut off & California located Suppliers had to cease doing sales to their largest Customer Base , The AR Market would have to adjust accordingly.

Guys I got this qweezy feelin' in my gut and the guard hair on my neck is standing straight up and the strongest urge to buy all the ammo I can afford, especially 22LR with copper jackets. Last month both of the ammo dealers in town told me that someone had come in and bought all of the rifle ammo they had. I understand that similar shortages are showing up all over the place.

I hear ya! I have a few guns my 10/22 is my fav. I started with a stainless 10/22, Butler Creek folding stock, rail, bipod, scope, sling, and 4 25 rounds mags. I have 10,000+ bullets for it so. It is a bit quirky but if I only had one I'd go with it. I am much more proficient with my 22 than my AK which has severe recoil. It is getting harder to find ammo. Sometimes I have to stop in places a few times to get some.

First of all stop refering to semi-automatic rifles are assault weapons. They aren't. Assault weapons are automatic rifles used by the military and police. A good sem-automatic rifle would be a SKS. I have one and think they are one of the best.
