WRAM - We dedicate our hearts, minds and bodies to protecting our great Republic!
Permalink Reply by dman on July 5, 2012 at 3:41pm I hate to say it Laurie, but he is a minority from what I see. I talk to military men all the time, daily even, and all of their mindsets are basically that they will do what the government says to do, even if it means even killing Americans. I've brought up the militias and liberty movement too, and they think its crazy. They even say that the military would crush all militias and anyone else who wants to overthrow the government in basically one day. I brought up the point, "but you're out numbered by people and guns". Their response is always the same. "We have technology that militias and regular people cant fight, and it wouldnt even be a competition." Sooo, I find it disturbing that most of these guys dont even know the constitution that they swore in oath to protect. This is a job to them, and not following orders will land them in jail. Everyone on here is an extremist to them. Only one soldier said that he would have to "think about which side to choose". Of course nobody thinks anything will happen, that its just fodder and whatnot. They say "the militias should be demonstrating peacefully in DC instead of hiding in the woods with guns".
What say you? This doesnt go along with Drake mindset, or anyone who wants change in America. According to these guys, corporations are bad, governments is good.
Permalink Reply by Jude on July 5, 2012 at 4:26pm I certainly find it hard to fathom...do you really think that the military would actually turn on their own people? All this would involve their families as well so do you really think they want their family and friends rounded up, etc.? I think the majority of them know what's going on and I believe the majority would side with We the People.
Permalink Reply by dman on July 5, 2012 at 5:34pm According to a lot of younger active duty guys that I have talked to, yes they would apparently turn on the people of America if the people of America tried to take over the government. They think militias are extremists for the most part, I obviously havent spoken to a lot of them from different areas, but honestly, this whole militia movement, the liberty movement --all the movements going on even on the left, doesnt seem to have much impact on a lot of them. The thing is, they fear the consequences of not following orders.
Now for me, I dont want anyone to get violent and hope nobody ever does, but if we keep heading the direction we're going as a nation, I dont think people are going to sit back and let it happen from what Ive read. Heck thats why I became a member of this site. I wanted to know how the active militia's are feeling about things, because honesty, I believe in the US Constitution and I know you do too. I see how a lot of people are stocking up on guns and ammo these days and it definitely wakes someone up, and it did me (I work in that industry). A lot of them are stocking up because they are scared civil war will break out in America. Some of them are stocking because they are afraid they'll lose their gun rights. It all points to one thing for me though. The stage is being set for violence in this country if we're not careful. I honestly fear what might happen if we dont start limiting government power.
Permalink Reply by Laurie Atkinson on July 5, 2012 at 6:30pm I'm with you Jude. The ones I have spoken to online and in person definitely know there's a HUGE problem and when asked if they would turn against the American people their response was no, and not just no, but HELL NO.
Permalink Reply by Jude on July 5, 2012 at 6:56pm Especially after Drake's address to all military. He even stated that 80 to 90 percent of the military are on our side.
Permalink Reply by dman on July 5, 2012 at 7:14pm I have been surprised with how many have said exactly what I typed. A few of them really shocked me. Maybe its just their young age.
Permalink Reply by Jude on July 5, 2012 at 7:16pm Maybe these young soldiers need to go to the SoldierHugs site and read some articles. Maybe they'll change their tune.
Permalink Reply by Laurie Atkinson on July 5, 2012 at 7:40pm Young maybe but ignorant more so...my guess is that maybe some of the youth you speak of were misguided prior to their military enlistment.
Permalink Reply by dman on July 5, 2012 at 7:57pm I think its also that I've really just talked with a select few. Its really only if the topic comes up. Usually if it does, which is fairly often overall really, its over the gun industries backorder program that everyone is on and just the sheer amount of guns people are buying. When I'm asked why, I say mostly because of the fear of more regulation, but sometimes it leads to taking about "what if" kind of thing about an uprising or something of the like. I was surprised with how many people think there might be one here in the future. It makes me curious, so if we get in topic and I'm talking to a military guy, I might ask him, well if it were to happen, would you go against the people? I was kinda surprised at that response. I kind of expected a "I could never harm an American citizen" but it didnt go just like that. Maybe they havent thought about it much. They didnt seem to think it would ever happen either.
Permalink Reply by Larry Martz on July 9, 2012 at 1:32pm I doubt if any of us really knows what percentage is on one "side" and what percentage is on the other "side." It is largely a matter of information and persuasion. We have more and more videos out and soon coming on the 9/11 inside job. However, I remember that the John Birch Society or something like that, in the late 40's or early 50's put out materials to be given out to soldiers in Europe/Germany after WWII. Most of this material was stopped from getting to our soldiers by "higher ups." The opposite could happen if certain people were "smart about it." The key is: "What do the senior (and junior) Commanding Officers think about this?" Are we any where near (or getting nearer) to what we call a "critical mass" of higher ranking commanders knowing what most of us know? By "critical mass" I mean enough of a percentage of Commanders (leaders) Knowing what we know and knowing that they have enough other commanders on their side to make it safe for them to go with "we the people" and against criminal politicians. Most military people and veterans know that you don't charge out in "no man's land" in a hail of bullets and expect to live to fight another day. We know that we have to be "smart about things" and do things when the time and other factors are right for success. Meanwhile, they work to make things favorable and gather intelligence to know if things are favorable or not. Did I confuse things or is that clear enough?
Permalink Reply by Chancy Yardbird on July 6, 2012 at 4:13am To help discern where a person might be in their military enlistment training and awareness, they can be asked to remember their training on the UCMJ and the following of legal and or on following of unlawful orders.
Many young people hear over and over the part of our oath being "support and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic" What they sometimes don't often hear and are sometimes forgetful of is the rest of that very same oath including the part about "and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice"
I doubt very few who have completed any military training who don't remember some crowd control and militry police training where very detailed UCMJ instruction made it understood that yes we may be called upon to confront civilians and NO we can't break the law or obey unlawful orders while doing so.
I suggest digging out our old copies and going over it with anyone who has,,,, er,,,,, forgotten.
Here is the "Uniform Code of Military Justice" on line. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/justicelawlegislation/l/blucmj.htm
I would start with sub chapter ten. After hearing what they believe and if I know they are wrong.
Permalink Reply by dman on July 5, 2012 at 8:03pm Now that is a scenario that I hope never happens, but if it does, I think a lot of people will be more ready than expected. The dream scenario is that we will fix the laws that have been broken through the legal system.
Something you might find of interest. I went through most of my life not hearing a whole lot about the militia. The things I heard were both good and bad but it wasnt a regular thing of course. In the last year, I've heard the word militia mentioned more than the rest of my life combined, and then some. Not by trying to or anything, just by listening and reading.
