This is a group for all of us gray-haired,"Over the Hill," "Old geezers," and "geezerettes, who still have one good fight left in us.  If the following describes you then join us.  I know the following article was posted a few months ago without accreditation. I first wrote it and posted it on my web site www.alandcalledamerica.com.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens and that’s probably a pretty good description.  Some of us are “baby boomers” getting ready to retire.  Others have been retired for some time.  We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were.  We have worked hard, raised our children, worshipped our God and grown old together.  Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that’s probably true.

But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.  We led America into the technological age.  Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience.  We remember the days of telephone party-lines, ten cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric, and referred to as refrigerators.  A few of us can even remember when cars were started with a crank.  Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many.  However, we are the ones who won World War II and fought in Korea and Viet Nam.  We can quote the Pledge of Allegiance by heart, and know where to place our hand while doing so.  We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield.  We know the words to the Star Spangle Banner, America, and America the Beautiful.  From time to time you may see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing.  We have lived what many of you have only read about in the history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us.  We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep.  There are those who want to destroy this land we love and, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.  The young people of this nation elected Obama and the Democratic congress.  You fell for the “Hope and Change” which in reality was nothing but “Hype and Lies.”  You have tasted socialism, seen evil face to face, and found you don’t like it after all.

You talk the talk, but most are all too interested in careers and “climbing the social ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting.  It appears that we care more about our grandchildren than some care about their children.  Those who fell for the great lie in 2008, are now having buyer’s remorse.  You didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the kool-aid.  Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it.  No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.  This is what you voted for and this is what you got.  We entrusted you with the “Torch of Liberty,” and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Gray-Haired Brigade is here, and we are going to take back this “Land of Freedom.”  We may drive a little slower than you would like, but we get where we’re going, and in 2012 we are going to the polls by the millions.  This land does not belong to the Muslim in the White House, or to Nancy Pelosi, or to Harry Reid.  It belongs to “We the People,” and “We the People” plan to reclaim our nation, our heritage, and our freedom.  We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren.  So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, stand up, put your hand over your heart, and as you say it be thankful for those of the Gray-Haired Brigade.

Right. We may be a bit slow, we may tire easily, and our eyesight isn't what it used to be, but there's still some fire under our gray hair.

Seriously, we in the gray-haired brigade need to think about how we can contribute to the militia in ways other than marching and shooting. Those of us whose eyes are still good enough for sniping can weigh in at 400 yards. Somebody has to do a lot of reloading of ammunition (are you stocked with primers and bullets?).

Then there's communications. We can operate radios, we can carry messages, we can pound computer keyboards.

Lots of ways we can contribute. Let's start thinking about them, and getting ready to do them. This means the rest of the militias have to think about how we can fit in.
Our founders had three options; the soap box, the jury box, and the cartridge box. They tried the first, were rejected by the second, and forced to resort to the third. They have left for us a fourth option; the ballot box. Our choice is clear. Our duty is plain. Our course is obvious. If our nation is to survive we must rid ourselves of all in Washington, both Republican and Democrat, who would destroy our constitution, deny our God, and take away our freedoms, and replace them with men and women who will protect and preserve the attributes which have made our nation great with our voices and our votes.

My prayer is that we can acomplish our goals at the ballot box. Only if that is taken away must we rely on the cartridge box. I would also suggest that we need to spend a considerable amount of time on opur knees. The same God who was with them is still available to all of us.
Close enough. Welcome to the group.
I'm in. Since one of my kids turned 40 last month and my granddaughter enlisted in the Army National Guard I believe I am qualified, even without publicly stating my age. My dad is 85 and I think there's a chance he might even have one more can of whoopass left in him. We are a long line of patriots and veterans going back all the way to the 1st American Revolution.
Well, I guess you can also count me in, one of the most valuable asset we can bring to the table is our brain and knowledge that we can pass on to the younger generation, at least we still can and know how to use our brain and that will be the PTB's downfall, they didn't wait until we passed on so we couldn't bring our knowledge to the table.

Layton
Layton, you are so right. I read recently that now the Viet Nam veterans are the largest group of living vets in the country. Now we have reached that dangerous age where we are old enough to know better but too young to care. They forgot but we didn't and never will.
Is this going to become a seperate group or stay as part of the WRAM??? Either way sign me up(65 and disabled)!!!!

Armed March Update 51 Replies

Here's the latest about Adam Kokesh' armed march on Washington DC, designed to demonstrate that we will not give up our guns. I listened to that interview and he makes a lot of sense. The guy fought in Fallujah so he obviously is no coward. And…Continue

Armed March on Washington DC in July? 174 Replies

Adam Kokesh is promoting an armed march on Washington DC to demonstrate that we will not give up our guns. I just don't know about that, itseems very risky and could backfire. All you need is one agent provocateur who fires a shot and it could go…Continue
