I originally posted this to my Blog, but felt that it should be shared more readily and given to discussion. Please let me know what your thoughts are.

Many of us call ourselves Militia, but how many truly understand the implications of that title. There is a great responsibility to endure once you have made the step up to be recognized as a "Militia Member".

To better understand what is involved with that responsibility you need only look to the 2nd Amendment.

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

The key part in that is this "being necessary to the security of a free state". Some will argue semantics and say that this is our Military, but history tells us that it is, We the People. There for we, being the Well Regulated Militia, should be ready at all times to defend the security of our state. What that entails is broad and has certain ramifications to it.

As "Standing Members" we must be ready to stand against any threat to that security. This can mean being active in our communities to acting against any unlawful or unconstitutional actions on the part of any entity. Whether it is the Federal or Local Government, local law enforcement acting against their oaths, or stopping the criminal in the street committing acts against another citizen.

We are obligated to defend against it. By force if necessary. Most do not like to admit that but it is a fact. Even the supreme court has ruled that you have a right to defend yourself against an officer of the law, "by any means necessary up to and including deadly force" and in most states the laws protect lethal defense of life and property.

If we are choosing to make that stand then we must make very critical decisions. Some will place us in harms way. We may face prosecution under the law, whether it is constitutional or not. There may be retribution from the establishment for making that stand. You could be made an example of being slandered or vilified in the public. You may even sacrifice your own life.

Many times we will stand alone. The number of members available to stand with you may be few, if any at all. More often than not you will be standing alone. But, this should be a badge of honor to you. Having the courage to stand alone for the security of a free state should be commended not ridiculed as stupid or insane.

Making the right choices and choosing to stand for what is right and just is never easy. If it were we would not be recruiting, we would be managing our numbers.

Then there are those times when we are faced with setting aside our own personal lives for the sake of others. We are forced to devote time away from our families and friends to be active. It costs us financially in equipment, gear, weapons, fuel, meals, and time off from work.

Most are not in a position to handle the financial burden. With the economy being what it is and unemployment being so high taking time off from a job or business could mean putting your own family in jeopardy. That simply can not be allowed and is understood by the Majority facing similar situations.

Our own list of priorities in times of crisis should have as number one, "Secure your Home and Loved ones". Second is to "secure the Infrastructure and protect the lives of others". For if our own are not secure then we can not begin to secure anything else. How are we to operate worrying that our homes and families are at risk. 

There in lies our dilemma. 

At this point in time with the tyrannical orders of our Government that label we the people, our veterans, and our fellow patriots as terrorists or traitors. When they believe that they have the authority to detain us indefinitely, with out a trial, with out a lawyer, and even torture us in the process then our homes and families are far from secure.

Most of us are standing up knowing full well that should they direct their armies of unlawful thugs and brainwashed officers at us there will not be many, if at all, who will stand in our defense. We may well give our own lives and become the next poster child for "Whacko Militia Nutjobs".

I do not profess to follow any particular religion, but I do believe that only my creator will be my judge. They may say what they will about me, but I will be secure in the knowledge that I did what I thought was right. No man will be my judge.

Knowing we are in danger, that we are not secure, and that our freedoms and liberty are dying a slow painful death what is our responsibility as a Militia Member.

First and fore most should be that we are not survivalists and here just for our own self preservation.

We have a duty as "Militia" to protect every single citizen. That means that we are bound by duty and honor to stand up regardless of the consequences.

Are we?

We are bound by our Oath to the Constitution to defend and protect it and the principles this Nation was founded upon. We can not stand idly by while unconstitutional laws are being implemented and used against the people.

Are we?

We have a responsibility to speak out loudly and with purpose anytime we see actions being taken that go against life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Even when it is an officer of the law acting against their own oath we should step in their way and proclaim "cease and desist". 

Are we?

We are held to a higher standard of honor and integrity to be truthful and not deceive. To treat others with respect and dignity as their protectors, not their judge. To respect our fellow members as brothers and sisters trusting that they will do the same in return. And, that they will stand with us as we would stand with them when we are called upon.

Do we?

We must sacrifice our own pleasures and comforts knowing that to do anything otherwise is a detriment to our own safety, as well as our families and loved ones. While others sit complacent or simply unaware we must take the lead and do all that is within our power to bring awareness to the current situation and what can be done about it. Before, we are called to action when the people have finally lost enough of their own pleasures and comforts. This may be one of the most important things we do in our efforts to protect the people. Saving them from themselves.

Do we?

That is what we are and must do if we wish to call ourselves Militia. Anything else is undeserving of the honor given to the title by our fore fathers who were the mere 3% standing alone for what was right.

I will always proclaim, "I am a standing member of the Texas Militia and I am here to defend you!". I am defending the people as the security to a free state. I will not be disarmed. I will not recognize unconstitutional laws or regulations and protect against them. I will not tolerate attacks on the citizens against their rights. I will stand between the people and illegitimate law enforcement or government.

The line is at my heels and I am stepping forward!

Who would stand with me?

I do these things knowing full well that by my words and actions I may be attacked, I may be arrested, I may be given 30 years in prison on trumped up charges, I may die by the hands of the enemies to freedom, but I will know I did the right thing.

My Children will know that their father fought for his belief in the ideals written in the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and The Bill Of Rights. They will be proud and carry on the fight even if I am gone. I have done what I could to keep the promise as their protector and defender. I lead the way for those who will follow.

We are the Militia decide carefully and with great thought, for to stand with us means to sacrifice it all for duty, honor, and Freedom.
