Permalink Reply by Minuteman on December 16, 2010 at 1:08pm My opinon is that this decission should be left up to each independent unit!! Militia soveigntry is a must!
I have to agree. Almost every unit has their own sop's. Expecially, those that are organized.
Um... two words.
Geneva Conventions.
Whether the colonial militias had uniforms doesn't matter today. If you don't wear a uniform you can be classifiedas an "enemy combatant" (thank you Pres. Bush!).
You are correct, however, the uniform sop is up to each of the individule units throughout each of the states. "Enemy Comabatent", is exactly what we will be labeled, in the SHF scenerio. Hence, domestic terrorist.
Permalink Reply by Nam Vet on January 25, 2011 at 2:40pm And in reality, we are not a real militia. Militia's train and I have not be part of any training exercise. And due to my health, I do not really see that training taking place anytime soon.
I can and am will ing to teach those interested in learning the things that I know. Not anything much about driving or in reallity the stoping of an M 1 Main Battle Tank. I was a member of the Old M 60 A 1 & M60A3. Not in use today as far as I know.
But I do know ways of stoping a moving vehicle that will not require a shot to be fired. There are more then one way.. I also know ways of filtering water to clean it up before boiling. I know how to test plants to find out if they are safe to use for food.
Want to learn? Send me a message telling me what it is that you wish to learn. pairofkeatts@aol.com
It wold also help if you live in Clark County, NV I live in Las Vegas.

Permalink Reply by Roger L. Martin on March 19, 2011 at 10:00am If you are refering to the Vietnam War as "the war we lost", we didn't lose that war.
The communist in our government gave it away. The military of this country far
outclassed and defeated the NVA and Vietcong. We won the battles, but the commies
here gave it away. If we aren't careful, they will do it again, and American lives will
be lost for nothing.
Permalink Reply by T.Peters (WI, Group leader) on December 16, 2010 at 2:38pm I would have to vote NO also simplie because of standing out, in certain areas one might, say be on a spec.ops u would never want to wear a uniform. it should be left to each independent unit.
But then again u did not ask for my comment just my vote which is - Nay
Wasting time? May have wasted 45 seconds of yours, to comment. You didn't have to. Infact, the title of this discussion is quite clear, so I would ask you, since you claim it to be a waste of time, why did you even enter this discussion?
You see, from the militia stand point, politics have no place within. Individule members, however, do pay attention to politics, and also use thier own time, not yours, doing what they feel needs to be done, as to not waste time.

Permalink Reply by james r list on December 16, 2010 at 7:05pm i say yes you going to hide in the woods with jeans and a flannel shirt might just as well draw a bullseye on you . also thing to consider should we be called out to help police search for someone(happens from time to time) would help with unit identity and people would realize we are not just a bunch of hicks with firearms
Not just the camo uniforms. I mean formal uniforms for going out to conventions and rallies. We must take every chance we can to make a positive image for ourselves. Our country has been made to believe that the militias are bad people who mean to harm society and the media is using the image we put out now to push there thiery. We HAVE to take responisibility for the image the media has put on us. If we payed closer attention to the way we presented ourselves physically, maybe some of this bad media could have been avoided. Nonetheless, formal uniforms and organized field uniforms would drastically cut down the bad imagery in the media. Of course, thats just my opinion. Let me know how ya feel about that, ok?
