Criminal youth of pre & post WW2 Big Cities were supposedly armed with crude "Homemade" Firearms and in some instances , The "Zip Guns" . I'm interested on any Links or pics of the method of construction & materials used and functionality & collectability of Originals

Permalink Reply by Cpl. Gavin Brown on July 22, 2012 at 9:03am How nice ! ,but I was thinking more along the lines of the Gun described by Carlito (Al Pachino) in "Carlito's Way"...
Permalink Reply by Chancy Yardbird on July 22, 2012 at 9:19am That was a big jump from farm kid ideas of the early 60s to thinking more about chrome and pearl handles in 1975.
What ever we hoped to build though wound up more likely made of copper tubing and bearing shop springs.
Permalink Reply by Cpl. Gavin Brown on July 22, 2012 at 9:28am I'm guessing that .25ACP & .22 SHORT were rounds used in these weapons

Permalink Reply by Charles Phillips on May 11, 2013 at 6:24pm In the '50's we would acquire the barrels from the then telescoping automobile radio antennas. The base portion was perfect for a 22. Most of the firing mechanisms were powered by rubber bands and a crude hammer. Ivory soap bars was one of the preferred frames, others were wooden blocks hand carved to fit our fancy, while others use "cap buster" pistols modified.
for modern day 9mm fits inside 3/8" iron pipe, and 12 gauge fits inside 3/4. I strongly suggest that you don't try to make any of these. They are more deadly to the user/maker than to the target.
During WWII the Alied forces dropped tones of single shot smooth bore crude guns in axis held territory. They were hoping that the citizens would pick one up and use it against an occupying solder or policeman to take his gun and ammo then pass the single shot along to another citizen to use. Most citizens were too afraid to use them. I am sure you can find an article about them on the web. It didnot work in WWII and I don't see it working here either.

Adam Kokesh is promoting an armed march on Washington DC to demonstrate that we will not give up our guns. I just don't know about that, itseems very risky and could backfire. All you need is one agent provocateur who fires a shot and it could go…Continue
