I am just curious at where do people feel we as a nation got off the course of greatness and started this whole slide into the corrupt and perverted mess of government that we have today?

Me personally I think the start was in the 50's with the rise of the military-industial complex and the expansion of the unions that pushed for high hourly wages and pensions for the auto makers. Also along with alot of people preferred to look the other way and trust the government to protect us from the Red Menace.

Also for the record I was born in the 70's so anything before mid 80's is more from reading history books and other items than personal experience.

Politicians, and there is no punishment for them when they mess up! They're hired help, and they need to be kept at that level. If we all survive this ordeal, there needs to be a system of checks and balances put into place to keep this from ever happening again!

Hopefully, King Obama won't come back this 2nd term, hopefully he'll get voted out.....

We trusted the people that we put into office with our very existance, and we didn't even check on them. We figured they had OUR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART!

THEY DID NOT! Thus, our government is run by the politicians we put into office. They were crooked. They abuse their privileges, and Hi-Jacked our government.

Me, I believe when after WWI, when they said that they were gonna put heavy tariffs on things coming into the country and our exporting goods out, caused alot of this.

At the end of WWII when they were gonna put it back into effect, they didn't, thats what caused the industrial complex boom after WWII.

We then got fat and lazy, and didn't keep our finger on the pulse of the nation, we were too busy running after the American Dream. We ourselves, became distracted, and continued chasing the dream, and we lost our way.

There was alot of concern, but not enough in time. Now, its not enough on the little too late side of things....and now we have to make some hard choices.

we had check and balances the government trashed it . It is the Constitution.

Steppenwolf is known mainly for "Born to be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride" but John Kay wrote numerous  songs that were both political commentary and prophecy.  Google for "Monster" and "The Ostrich" on You Tube, and you will be amazed at the accuracy of the observations regarding American history and the prescience of the observations of what was then the future.

"We then got fat and lazy, and didn't keep our finger on the pulse of the nation, we were too busy running after the American Dream. We ourselves, became distracted, and continued chasing the dream, and we lost our way."  This could have been a paraphrase from the lyrics of "Monster."

Personally, i believe this course  being off track traces its roots after the end of the Civil War/ War between the states. While modest roots, it did not take long for them to take ahold and grow. I mean think about it. Previous to the war the Federal Government was fairly small and it could be said (submissive) to the States, just as how the Republic was envisioned by the Founding fathers.Previous to the war ,secession was thought to be the honorable thing for a State to do if the Federal govt was being tyrannical to the State, they believed if they volunteered into the union by golly they could volunteer themselves out. Back then it was seen the same as their grandfathers separating from Britian.  After the war there was a huge shift in power from State and local to federal and The new industrial age and "reconstruction" had begun. From then on the shift from State and Local power to federal power just kept on going, and the fed kept on growing right up to tie into the industrial Military complex, But thats just my thinking, and yours may vary.
I agree. The Civil War brought about an end to states rights and Citizenship with the 13th and 14th amendments. Out of it came the foundations for an ever increasing encroachment of federal government into the affairs of people and business. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 was the icing on the cake for the elite power brokers.
After doing some research you have a very good point

Another problem I see, and this is my opinion, is families stopped being families. Teach your kids to think for themselves, show them how, make them understand where money comes from, and that money is not evil, but it is evil if you don't understand it. Schools teach you that you HAVE to go to college, and prepare you for a average income job. I read a lot, I learn, I research and do my own studies, and then by doing so I educate my kids with the truth about the real life issues they aren't being taught in school. Once again it is my opinion that if families become families again, a lot of our problems in this nation would be solved. There are some great families out there and maybe you are apart of one, maybe you failed miserably, or your kids failed you miserably, but it's not too late to help others. Some will always be there to criticize and ridicule others and thank God for them because that tells me that the 1st Amendment is still okay. Money made our country and right now money is tearing it apart and it's due to the educational system and in some cases lack of educate in our homes.

Thats a good point Patriots Knight! I was just thinking about this. previous to 1960 how many school shootings do you hear about? maybe one or two, but thats about it. Yet there were such laxed laws  back then that firearm wise, in some High schools many young outdoorsmen brought their deer rifles or shotguns into their lockers to store till after school. They were just doing it out of  convienance so they could go out  hunting right after school. Yet ive seen nothing where that resulted in an act of violence or death.. maybe it did and please correct me if im wrong, but i sure cant find anything on it. That kind of responsibility for ones action starts in the home as well.
Yes, and this was by design. Destroy the family structure so to make the government your family. Or at least thats what they tried to do.....
I went to a school in a rural area, it was nothing for us to go the school directly from being out hunting and have hunting rifles and pistols in our cars and knives on us but their was never a fight on campus where a knife or gun was pulled. I strongly believe in our right to carry guns, however I believe just as strongly that one should have to attend gun safety classes and gun training classes to be able to purchase a weapon just like you have to take training for a drivers license.
I have always thought some kids do not need to attend college, I think they should be more vocational training pretty much if you are bored with school then go to a school for a apprenticeship learn a trade. My brother skipped school because he preferred where he worked better and he makes a pretty good living from learning and honing a trade. Another thing is GED's are too easy IMHO. Especially since more and more places treat them equally as a diploma. Lastly reguarding the households I partially agree, it is possible to have a stable household where both parents work. I believe it boils down to parents do no want the responsiablity of raising their kid so they let the TV, video games and internet do the raising.
I believe that it initially began after the Civil War with "Reconstruction". I also believe Joe McCarthy was on to something because academia in this Country took a downhill slide into teaching Communism / Socialism ideology during the 1960's.  Look at the difference between college students 1950's and 1960's.

Here's the latest about Adam Kokesh' armed march on Washington DC, designed to demonstrate that we will not give up our guns. I listened to that interview and he makes a lot of sense. The guy fought in Fallujah so he obviously is no coward. And…Continue

Armed March on Washington DC in July? 171 Replies

Adam Kokesh is promoting an armed march on Washington DC to demonstrate that we will not give up our guns. I just don't know about that, itseems very risky and could backfire. All you need is one agent provocateur who fires a shot and it could go…Continue
