Your Dog Needs a License
Your Dog Needs a License,But Your Congressmen Doesn't.
An individual needs to be certificed to be a doctor, lawyer or an accountant. To sell insurance or securites an individual needs to pass a series of tests that qualify them to serve in their chosen field.
Isn't ironic that the all an individual running for Congress needs to do is find someone willing to finance his or her campaign? Those elected to serve are required to repay the debt whenever they are called upon to do so.
Elections have become a circus and in many of the candidates elected are clowns that make promises before the election that they have no intention to keep after they are elected..
I believe that before anyone can become eligible to run for Congress, they must first take and pass a course on the Constitution and the principles of sound government.
I believe that anyone that desires to run for Congression be required to take a pass a battery of tests on each Constitution, Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. The individuals scoring in the top three would automatically become the candidates.
There would be no political parties involved.
Each of the candidates would be allocated an equal amount of money to spend on their election. No donations from other sources or personal funds could be used.
Perhaps the members of Congress that violate their oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution should be spayed or neutered.

Another thing that should be required is that anyone running for office should also submit a bussiness plan. This way everyone can see what they plan on doing and how they plan on doing it.
This would give the people a better idea of what they are going to and what it is going to cost the American people. There would be no surprises and the citizens would not have to keep fighting with congress for all the unlawful bills that they try to pass.

Actually I disagree with this. All licensing is unlawful and unnecessary in our "de jure" republic. Yes all should be educated in our founding documents but most already are and that is how they know where all the loopholes are. COMMON SENSE and a servants heart to serve the people is what should qualify our representatives, and if they do not serve the people according to OUR RIGHTS, they should be allowed ONE mistake to learn from, and if they do not then they are out to never return again. Guarnteed we would not have to worry about our government getting too big again. Also, after term limits they go back to their regular job and do not qualify for lifetime benefits...so, NO Licensing. People can decide who is serving them and who isn't!! Just my opinion, not meant to offend anyone:)

I actually agree that licensing people to exercise their rights violates the principles of liberty. I do think, however that candidates running for office should meet certain standards. We the people should not vote for candidates that lack knowledge on the Constitution, just as we should avoid doctors that are not qualified. The people are not qualified to judge the candidates Constitutional IQ because, We the people don't understand the Constitution either.

That would be a start...but how many in DC know the constitution very well but CHOOSE to follow the UN mandates instead... or the Bankers Manifesto... or several other UN-constituional sources... UNconstitution = UNITED NATIONS CONSTITUTION...just my thought:(
Actually IMO the Ten Commmandments, Declaration of Independence, and Bill of Rights should take presidence over the Constition...the Constitution is for the Governmnent... the others are for the People, and imo that is what those that would serve us need to understand and practice!

And to this I would say this, ALL BILLS/ACTS NEED TO BE LIMITED TO ONE PAGE, TWO AT THE MOST AND WRITTEN ACCORDING TO WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY FOR THE COMMON PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND!
We should be able to easily understand what is supposedly written for us...should we not? I'm sick to death of all the "legal speak" pages upon pages of words used to trick, deceive, confound and confuse the People so they give up and walk away...if we want People to stay engaged then we need to give them plain language commitments of service to them so they KNOW when we are not doing what we say we will... I am not referring to myself... I use "we" ...because it is us ..the PEOPLE that have the power...we need to stop letting the "educated/PROGRAMMED" puppets tell us we need to do when we KNOW it is wrong... COMMON SENSE needs to be revived in America!!

One of the other reasons that Senators were elected by the state legislators was so that they would protect the wealth of the states. Of course this does not happen any more. They took away that system of checks and balances in one of the amendments.

these are some of the best idea's I have heard so far about being an elected official. Other than to make the positions volunteer (without pay) and every candidate gets time on C-span to present their political vision and campaign so there is no lobby money needed to campaign
