I know some of us have talked about it in the past and I would really like to see it happen this next year. How about some ideas?

Thompson Pass is open for use we dont even need permits or anything. My guys train there all the time. Although I do realize that it's a fair pace away from where yal are at.

I would like to make it as central to all as possible..

There are some nice areas off the Glenn by Sheep Mountain. There are also some nice areas in Delta and I know your fond of the Pass.

We need an area that alows for tenters and campers.

We need an area that allows ATVs and horses.

We need an area that we can set up a pistol and rifle range.

Dates: May - Aug timeframe

Duration: 2-4 days

Another option Chris is to make the event an annual reoccuring event and a different unit in the state hosts it each year in their AO.  I kinda like this. I would be willing to host the first year.

I like the idea of a different unit hosting it each year. We do need to hammer out a date ASAP though seeing as most of my "marines" are fisherman. I also liked what you said before that each unit needs to be responsible for at least one or two sessions of training. Since my Marines are a Recon unit, I would be willing to put together a Land Nav course if that's alright with you. We could probably head off a PT session every morning for anybody who wants to partake. Gotta love PT :)

What are the primary no go dates in your mind..

Before May 25

Sept 1-25

I say we schedule out a 4 year plan (alternate it between Me, You then Root, we leave the 4th year open for a new unit to host.. Maybe Norms group will step up after they see the plan. Then Year 5-8 we schedule 2 Rondezvous a yr, (1) Winter (1) Summer.

anyone have a gob of privite ground half way between? it might keep any unwanteds from attending unannounced

Thats good thinking. although who would we deem as "unwanted"

media, liberals that want to create problems for our groups

Hmm, good in theory but if we were to have it in a public area, couldn't they just go AROUND our checkpoint? In addition, if they were to come up to our checkpoint and demanded to be let in, what could we do? Even if we were to give them a citizen's arrest they could say that we were holding them against their will. And we can't fire on unarmed people. That's what we are here to combat anyway. I can definitely see them just walking right in without us being able to stop them and pretty much just doing whatever they wanted. Hmm, we do need to figure out how to peacefully stop that kind of crap.

I do not know of anyone with a large tract of land that would be willing to host these events.. if i did I would but all i got is 5 acres and really not conducive.. Im not so much worried about someone coming in.. I think as long as we have an RSVP deal we would be able to identify who is the known and unknown. to most passerbys we will probably look like a bunch of folks camping. Its not like the event will be advertised in the paper or the media prior to occuring although media does monitor all these sites as well as LEO so.. we just need to mind our p's and q's and we should be ok. its gonna be hard to find a single spot that will satisfy all that why i kind of like the rotation idea..

just throwing this out there as a proposal

                   Summer                       Winter

2012 year 1    CAM                            ACG

2013 year 2    ACG                            SCM

2014 year 3    SCM                            CAM

2015 year 4    ACM                            Other??

we can adjust fire after year 2 or 3 with the addition of new units.    We have 3 new units that should form up in 2012.  Tok, Manley and another coastal unit TBA.

If anybody has any better ideas.. lets hear them.

I like it Dave, I will begin my planning for this next winter. However as we have discussed off site, a small OP on the main road/trail in just to observe people coming in would likely be a good idea. Just a good way to let everyone know who is coming in. If it is on public lands anyway. If on private lands we could just call the cops lol.

When we had the big ACG training weekend in the pass this fall we notified local LEOs and they didnt even come and bother us. Should be a chill time I would think.

my dad just emailed me a load of stuff about crap that is supposed to be going on next year. I guess a solar storm is on its way that could create an EMP? Other crazy stuff too. The US Navy also put out a post 2012 map (go ahead and google it) It might be good to have a block of instruction on these things. I'm no conspiracy nut but it never hurts to be prepared. In addition to a block on Navigation and morning PT, I could also talk about the benefits of Faraday cages among other things if nobody else wants to talk about it. Even American Tanks like the M1 Abrams and the Bradley have EMP resistant armor and a backup electronics system in case of an EMP caused naturally or from a nuclear blast.
