                                    California State Militia

                                       Mission Statement:

In principle we, the members of the Southern California State Militia, stand to promote, uphold and defend the constitutional guarantees as documented and expressed to the people in the California State Constitution and the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution.

We stand to promote and defend the principles of just government bequeathed to us by our forefathers to ensure that all citizens regardless of race, color, religion, sex or natural origin retain those inalienable rights and protections established by our founding fathers.

We acknowledge a responsibility and exercise our rights as established in the Constitution of the United States to maintain our militia and train our members in the many disciplines necessary to the function of the militia both as a whole and to the members individually.

We acknowledge a responsibility to educate our members in areas of history, law and principles of a Republican government as compiled in the experience and records of our forefathers. The SCSM does not advocate overt acts of violence and/or aggression. It remains a defense oriented organization.

Like other constitutional militia organizations, the SCSM recognizes that good government, founded and implemented consistent with Constitutional tenets is not only a blessing, but essential to the function and preservation of a free society.

                                              Core Values

These Values define who we are, what we do, and what we stand for. Actions counter to our Values weaken the Militia, and our readiness. By not living up to our Values you may discredit yourself, and can lead those we serve to question our values or even possible dismissal from the Militia. We must never accept actions inconsistent with the below Values.

1. Loyalty. Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the California Constitution, your unit and other militia members.
2. Duty. Fulfill your Obligations- Accept responsibility for your own actions and those entrusted to your care. Find opportunities to improve oneself for the good of the group.
3. Respect. Treat people as they should be treated- how we consider others reflects upon each of us, both personally and as a professional organization 4. Selfless Service. Put the welfare of the Nation, the Army, and your subordinates before your own-Selfless service leads to organizational teamwork and encompasses discipline, self-control and faith in the system 5. Honor. Live up to all the Southern California State Militia Values
6. Integrity. Do what’s right, legally and morally-Be willing to do what is right even when no one is looking.
It is our "moral compass" an inner voice.
7. Personal Courage. Face fear, danger, or adversity (physical or moral)

                                                UNIFORM

You are welcome to wear what ever you like the following is only a guild line or a preferred uniform. Many may have uniform already.

Uniform & Gear ,Why ACU? works best in our So.Cal environment
UNIFORM
Every member is asked to have a Militia Service Uniform (MSU). This uniform is worn for all public appearances in the course of duties for The SCSM. The official camo pattern for all MSUs is ACU
The MCU or Militia Combat Uniform is worn for any combat field operations.
DO NOT WASH YOUR UNIFORM WITH REGULAR LAUNDRY DETERGENT! EVER!
Most standard commercial detergents use “UV Brighteners” which permanently bond with fabrics. At night, you will light up like a Christmas Tree when viewed under IR vision devices. Instead, use detergents specifically made for hunting apparel. Double check to make sure they contain no brighteners. Any sporting goods store will stock this.
Boots – take extra time to find a good quality pair of boots that fit your feet well. It is strongly recommended that you NOT skimp on this investment. Approved boot colors are Tan, Coyote, Brown only.
As an all-volunteer organization, we understand members do not have unlimited funds. So, obtain your gear as you are able to do so. Again, check with your Company commanders for what you will need and in the order you should acquire it.

Here is the standard MSU configuration with patch and name tape placement:

Manteca, CA

Hello Folks, Jyrell down here in SC looking to make new friends and advance the cause of freedom.
Thinking about something along the lines of Mid-Summer Regional Meet and Greet doing a Nationwide Meet and Greet on a Regional basis with Commo/IT setting up to link it all together and make it go MAINSTREAM MEDIA. What say you?

Hello my name is Robert and live in Whittier CA. I recently decided to join because of many things that I see wrong with our country. I am a 5 year veteran and to this day hold the oath to uphold and defend. I am a unemployed at the time. I don't own a gun but support 2A and want to know if there is anyone close by that can show me the ropes.
Comment by Jim Haagenson, Major CSM on April 28, 2013 at 6:12pm

Thanks Mark. We always tell people that the rifle they own is the one that's best for them. If someone has a 17HMR, then thats the best rifle for them and much better than nothing. Many rifles are no longer readily avialable in America, so anything is better than nothing. I was at a gun show this weekend and they didn't have a single rifle newer than a manufacture date of 1955 and ammo was in frightenly short supply.

Than you Major for you reply to my comment. The truth is that a lot of people only have small caliber rifles for various reasons. I agree that a shotgun in each squad does give the unit a greater flexibility. Moreover, a good shotgun in the hands of the right man is well capable of 100m qualifying.
Concerning the 17HMR. Here are some links to videos that I'm sure you and the rest of the group will find very interesting. The 17hmr was developed from the 22mag. It has a flatter tradjectory than a 22lr and much greater velocity. Once again, thank you major for reply. It was greatly appreciated.

The 22LR would certainly be acceptable, even if its a bolt action type. You could still hit targets at 100m which is the minimum range at which we qualify. 17HMR is to small a caliber to be considered an adequate rifle for the Militia. We do encourage each squad to have one shotgun in the squad, but you might find it challenging to qualify at 100m, but if you can then you can use it as your weapon of choice for qualification.

Comment by Mark Glassco on April 27, 2013 at 4:43pm

Concerning Level 1 guidelines. Specifically, the weapon type .
I reviewed the guidelines on Level 1 and had a question concerning the "weapon of choice". Some people may not be able to ever have a "military" type rifle either through financial restraints or other restraints of practicality. If one only had a small caliber weapon such as a 22LR, 17HMR, or just a pump or single shot shotgun, would that be a disqualifying aspect to completing the Level 1 requirements. I'm sure ther are others that will have this question as well.

Comment by Robert Kelly Ferris on April 6, 2013 at 11:19pm

Hello from a new member. I might just be stupid but i cant seem to find anywhere on this sight where I can go to see what, where, when, and how to meet up, see postings, announcements that relate to myself or anyone in my area. I haven't found anything close to the time/date that is current.(04/06/13) everything I've seen is:11/2012 or earlier. Please someone steer me in the right direction.
Also, I've no uniforms ect from my active inlistment. I just lost my job due to "restructuring" and now have more time to do "something" i guess...but some advice about how get involved when you have limited or no resources to do much of anything pertaining training. (i doubt i could read a map anymore and sure as hell cant remember the last time i looked at a compass. Thanks for the time
