Ok guys question

We all know we need to get radios ASAP. CBs are good but HAM/SW travel much further.
My question is what is better for us to get 2 M 10M 20M ? I figure we will want to reach out a min of 75 miles ( i know if the atmosphere is right you can reach all over the world) but im talking for normal comm between groups in state. I have also heard some can work on multiple bands ie 2 and 10 or 10 and 20 etc

Im going to the (Orlando Radio Amateur Club is having their annual Ham Fest, Feb. 12, 13, and 14th, 2010 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds.) And want to know what i should get. At minimum a hand held maybe one for my truck as well.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Layton
How do you like the trisquare's? i was looking at those, looked pretty good. figureed on using them for inter-team comms.
Not familar with the trisquare system, most groups are using what will cover the basic channels. How about posting some info on the trisquares. I am sure it wolud help others understand the various options, Thanks.
Rick Layton has some trisquares he is bringing to the meeting and to the day training you can check them out.
Another inexpensive option is Marine Band radio. Depending on the height of the antennae, range could be as much as 25 miles. A good radio and antennae can be had for less than $300.00. Sure, these radios are supposed to be used for marine radio traffic only, but in an emergency....who cares? Additionally, there is no license requirement for private non-commercial use.
