These united States are divided, I believe, even more so than at the time of
the 'War Between the States'. At that time, one side wanted an overly strong
federal government (north), while the other wanted the majority of the
power to rest with the several states (south). But they both agreed that the
American system of a Constitutional Republic was the best form of
government to guarantee the rights of a free, moral and God-fearing people.
Today, we still have one side that believes in God, the Constitution, the Bill
of Rights and that freedom is best protected by investing the majority of
government power in the states and in the people themselves.
The other side, however, doesn't believe that the American system is the
best system; or that YOU should be self-governing and independent. This is
where the true rift forms. Most people used to believe that both the
Democrats and Republicans had the nations best interest at heart, but they
simply differed on the route we should take to get there. Today, though, the
mist is clearing from the peoples eyes and they are beginning to find out the
truth.
Our Constitutional Republic is best suited to a population that is self-reliant,
self-sufficient and self-governing. Meaning, the father is the best judge of
what is good for his family; counties are the best arbiter of what and how
schools should teach the children of their communities; and states are the
most effective builders of infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc.) and framers of
laws that govern everything else in a state that is not enumerated in the 17
specific powers that were delegated to the federal government back in 1787
(try to find the Federal Reserve Bank or the Departments of Agriculture, Energy,
Interior, Education or Health & Human Services in the Constitution. You won't,
they're not there... However, you will find them in the '10 planks of the
Communist Manifesto').
The truth is that both political parties have taken us down the same road
that leads to the dissolution of our founding form of government and have
done everything they can to institute a socialist democracy in it's place. This
is the real dividing line. Not left vs. right. But instead, those who believe in
freedom and liberty, opposite those who work toward establishing an
omnipotent central government with power over every facet of your life.
Cradle-to-grave, as they so often put it.
If you value Liberty, more than Security... Stand with Us!

First thing in a survival situation is to maintain an alert mental awareness. You need to learn how to think and be aware of the situation you’re in. You will learn what you need now, what you will need later, when to move, when to stay still, where to move, and how to get there. You will learn the S.T.O.P. method.
Stop: Stay put where you are.
Think : Think about your situation, what you need and what you have.
Observe: Look around your surroundings and see what you have available to you where you’re at.
Plan: Make a plan on what you need to do and when you need to do it.
Second is building a shelter for your situation. This is very important in a survival situation. There are many shelters from a simple lean-to shelter that will protect you from rain and wind , to a debris shelter that will keep you warm and dry in the most severe weather. You will also learn where to build your shelter and what materials to use to build it.
Third you will learn fire building techniques. You will learn where to find fire building materials even during foul weather. Different ways to light your fires, and how to maintain and good fire for cooking or heat. You will also learn how to build heat shields to reflect heat where you need it.
Fourth is water. The staple of staying alive in the wilderness. You will learn how and where to collect water and how to make it safe for human consumption. How to purify, how to filter and how to store water. Water is very important survival tool and can kill you if not purified properly.
Fifth you will learn how to prepare food; how to cook food for large groups, how to store food for longer life, what foods are easy to prepare and what foods you should carry in your bug out packs.
Sixth you will learn what you need in a survival pack and how to pack it.
Seventh you will learn how to recognize plants and the use of specific plants.
Eighth you will learn to move in the wild quietly with out disturbing the foliage.
Ninth you will learn many aspects of trapping for food.

Comment by kjkcool1/kevin korsund on December 7, 2011 at 3:38pm Greetings all, I just wanted to take a moment today Dec 7th to remind all of us who have family or friends who served this great country during WWII to take a moment and thank them for their service. Today marks the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor which pushed us into WWII. Now that it has been 70 years there are fewer and fewer of our aging vets left to thank for their service. On a more militia related note, we need to stay vigilant in our training and other activities as this time of year has a tendency to get us sidetracked with all of the family and holidays. Not that we should not be thankful for these things we just need to remember as militia men, it is our duty to protect these things. We as a group have our training for Dec. on the 17th. Our meeting is on the 12th in Post Falls at Denny's at 6:30pm. Come to the meeting for more info on this month's training and other activities. Your Sincerely, Capt. Kevin Korsund CO 55th Bn. Kootenai County,ID.
