how many of us carry a bug-out bag with us at ALL times ?
i know we all have our stash at home, but, what about when we're at work or traveling ? i drve over the road for a living and i carry a fully loaded bag at all times. it contains everything i need to be totally self-sufficient for an extended period of time ( at least a month or more ).
i transfer it from my personal vehicle to my truck every trip. IT NEVER LEAVES MY SIDE.
just wondering how many others are truly prepared for any contingency, no matter when or where.

Permalink Reply by Kathryn (Kate) Bales on July 2, 2012 at 11:26am I must confess to being somewhat slack in this area. Living in a very isolated area has led to complacency. I always have a couple cases of water, an emergency blanket and heavy jacket and lantern in each of my vehicles. I carry concealed, and am accompanied everywhere by one of my pit bulls, who is trained as my medical assistance dog.
Since I am 300 miles from any metropolitan area, I figure that I would have time to go home, which I would need to do anyway to get the rest of my animals. My bugout bag sits next to the front door, next to my rifles. My other handguns are hidden in handy to reach places in the house, easy to grab quickly.
I do have multiple options when leaving, including one that allows me to head for the back country, a few hundred thousand acres of BLM land) without traveling on any public roads. The latter would be my last choice, but is nice to have in the event of a sudden emergency.
Permalink Reply by scott decker on July 7, 2012 at 4:37am I stretched mine out a bit more than that. Being on the road most of the time, my bag is set up to carry me over for a minumum of three weeks. That includes food, water, medical supplies, shelter, and the ability to obtain more of the same. The real beauty is, it all fits in a standard medium-sized rucksack that my daughter gave to me, when she finished her enlistment. Clothing is minimal, socks, hooded sweatshirt, lightweight unionsuit ( one piece longjohns ). These can be supplemented by what I normally carry in the truck.
