If one insists upon not carrying a wallet for any activity, I really like these (more quiet than dog tags, and no poseur stigma):

Yes, medical types (EMTs, paramedics, ED nurses, etc.) routinely check wrists and wallets for this kind of information, since medic-alert bracelets are so common.

It would probably be a good idea if we are allergic or just basic info.  I cannot have a needle or blood pressure on my left arm so that is something that would be good.  I do wear a bracelet that says so but when out in training dog tags would probably be a good idea.
