This post is a long time past due for most of you.  And for that I apologize.  But I finally got time today to throw together a few sketches of my "design" for our flag.  Granted, we are not tied to this design or any of the layouts.  It is simply to generate ideas.  I do have to explain some of it for you.  The saying in each that says "Xaverii Libero Pugnam" is latin for "faithful in the fight for liberty."  Then there is our unit designation and the year we were established.  The final link is to the bare design of the "Snake and Hive".  The snake comes from the Gadsden flag and the Hive is the symbol for Utah.  So, By combining them, we are the snake or patriots who are guarding and protecting Utah.  And that is the symbolism behind the flag.  Share which of the designs are your pick or favorite, or even use the "Snake and hive" to design your own idea and post it!  I drew it so you have no copyright issues ;)  But a disclaimer is, as you can tell by looking at them I am nowhere near an artist so once we have one picked, we could find an artist (or if any of you are an artist) and have them do a "real" design that we can turn into a flag.  Thanks!

"Snake and Hive"

I love the snake and hive design, but it's "field".

;)

Number six is my favorite of the bunch.

Sure, and font, scrolling, etc.

Again, to have it sewn, it needs to be in a Vector format. We need to find someone good with Photo-chop.

Thank you Trenton.  I liike 2 and 6 but will see what everyone says.  Appreciate you working it around.  Great Job.
That's a good idea.

How about just "45th Field Force"? Saying "Utah Light Foot Militia" twice seems redundant.

Is there a protocol for making flags, like heraldry?

Oh, and we need to double-check that Latin, too. Just because the words are right, doesn't mean the phrase is (grammar, conjugation, etc.).

But the flag says "Utah" right on it.

There has to be a way to not repeat, and make it all make sense.

Maybe we need to print off a few, cut out the pieces, and rearrange them until it looks good.

That might be a good Friday night activity.

Brain fart.

When you wrote:

What if you put "45th Field Force" in a arch above the Snake, and "Utah Light Foot Militia" in a rocker below it? or your Latin phrase above, and "45th Field Force Utah Light Foot Militia" in a rocker below?

I thought you wanted to put "Utah Light Foot Militia" twice.

I like the idea of putting the Latin phrase in a scroll (assuming we use it) beneath the snake:

Utah Light Foot

Est.     Snake/Beehive   MMXI

45th Field Force
