After reading some post on from other groups, I started to wonder about family's! Now,as a single guy,I don't have a family to consider on such things as what I buy as far as gear, or the time that i spend away from my loved ones, but a lot of you guys do! Do they agree with and understand what you are doing, and why you are doing it,would they like to come out and see what we are doing, maybe even participate? and do you think that would make them understand more? Do you think getting the spouses together is a good thing!

My wife agrees, but at the same time, I'm limited on how much i can be gone, every weekend would definitely be too much, especially since I have no babysitter on the weekends when she's at work.

I can't get my extended family to involve themselves in preparedness, much less paramilitary training. They know that I take firearms classes as often as I can (only because they wonder why I don't show up to some family events- I'm training).

Frankly, it's none of their business. My wife knows I train; and has seen some (not all) of my gear. Other than that it's NDBBM.

Rachel, welcome to the board. Feel free to introduce yourself, and participate in any way with which you feel  comfortable (including participating in a training event).

She's a friend of mine, I'll vouch for her.
I'd love to bring my family out to a family-friendly event. The way I see it, I'm not raising two boys. I'm training  a fire team.
I agree that they need to know what we are doing and when they are there they can ask questions.  They need to understand.  My husband cannot do a lot but would be interested and does love to shoot.  I am eventually going to involve my sons.  We need some training with families and some without.  It is just a matter of what we will be doing.

see what some groups in Michagan have done with their training some family friendly training others for those more advanced so to speak

Absolutely Nick,

The family should be involved and informed on the militia There many groups through out the country who are doing just that!!

The wives who can't,or don't want to participate in the actual field activities can form up a ladies auxillary, and run the mess duties, get involved with any support for the group,no matter how well you are trained, you need support or you will not be efficient in the field.

The Lightfoots are doing this, and it seems to be working well.

Hi, John

Yes, their auxillary group is going to be preparing meals for their training on the 11/12th.  That is a good idea.  I knew that but forgot.  Good idea.

Also we could hire you and Ed to come and cook for us!!!LOL

No hireing to it Mickie.Once the first N.E.Oregon 58th Lightfoots MMU is set up,we will be working at forming these units throughout the western states.A lot of work, but it is workeable!

Just takes time and planning!

We would love to cook for you if we could afford the trip!!

By the way,Glenn in Moline Ca. has a few mess trailers set up and running,so we have help!

John, it is so exciting to be getting this going.  You know I have always wanted to meet with you and Ed and this is going to get us working together and being on the same page. I was just kidding with you about cooking and I think the mess trailers once a unit gets big enough is a very good idea.  Thanks for all the hlep!

I have all the faith in the world with you guys Mickie!

You are working hard, and working on the organization! Before you know it,you will have a great group in place.

I am darn proud of all of you!!
