Here in Virginia, there is a Veterans Administration Medical Center located in Salem, Virginia, and right next door is a state veterans care center. There are many residents of both of these facilities that have no one to visit them. My wife and I are going to go and see the head nurse and ask if there is anyone in need of clothing or just a few hours companionship. I spent ten months in the state facility and I saw many who no on visited while I was there. When we went before at Christmas , we usually took items such as socks, candy, house shoes, cologne, books, etc. If there is any one in the Roanoke/Salem area that would like to participate in this endeavor, please let me know.
