Fellow patriots, this is where we will develop our communications network via discussions and agreement on process.

I can not stress the urgency of getting this set up ASAP, so Lets Roll!

Hello guys,
this is Charlie in Roanoke, Virginia. I would like to start on communication. Communication right now is our biggest weapon. We can get together to see what is going on in Virginia. Also it would be nice to start a network of communication with all 50 states. I am open to all and any suggestions.
Your fellow patriot
Charlie
Charlie, we are glad to have you, brother! I totally agree that we need to build an alternative comm network.

Times are tough, and very few have money to spend on brand new whiz-bang gear. Some of us have existing CB equipment that could be put into use fairly quickly, with low expenditure. I propose that to be phase 1, and we can start looking for used HAM and shortwave gear in the meantime.

If you would be willing to volunteer your expertise and experience in radio comms, it would be a huge help to our cause, and effectiveness. The sooner we have a working alternative method of communications, the less vulnerable we are to a shutdown of internet and cellphone comms. Your help and contribution would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact me directly @ scooby3@hushmail.com
Hushmail is a free email service that is automatically encrypts and decrypts messages between hushmail clients. It is not bullet-proof, but it is a step in the right direction of secure comms for phone #s, directions to locations and such.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

In Liberty,
Sam
For those who don't know Charlie yet, he has military experience and training in radio comms. I am hoping that he will agree to volunteer to be our State Comm. Coordinator. His experience and knowledge in the subject qualifies him for the position, and it is imperative that we begin to put together an alternative communications system together in the event that internet and cell comms are "disabled".

We have agreed that for the most economical Phase-1 network, existing CB radio equipment can be utilized, while we explore more robust methods in the meantime.

Please include alternative communications into your planning and preparations for the future. Those who are prepared survive, those who don't will suffer.
ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS!

Charlie Giese has volunteered to be the Virginia State Coordinator for Alternative Communications. Charlie is now our go-to guy for radio communications, and radio network building. He has military experience, and has a Ham station and CB equipment currently up and running in the Roanoke area.

Charlie will be coordinating the formation of the Virginia State radio network, and taking control of this discussion group. Please give him all cooperation and respect his contribution of time and energy in his effort to get this network up and running.
Hey everyone! I'm Bobby in Sterling, Va I'm in the process of getting a Cb and once I do I'll pitch in. My dad was a truck driver for the greater part of my childhood so I'm quite familiar with it on top of that have tons of books for building and repair for it.

Long live the Patriots keepers of Freedom!

Hello Clay Soldier:

My name is CHarlie. I am the communications regulator for the state of Virginia. Thank you for the concern for communications. A good CB is a very good start. You can get them either new or used at yard sales or flea markets. Your biggest expense will be a good aerial. If you need any help or advice, feel free to contact me. Either on this site or you can contact me by hushmai at ironsides63 @ hushmailcom. Thanks again being a good patriot.

Your friend Charlie
Thank you Charlie for stepping up and taking responsibility! You deserve the thanks of all Virginia Patriots. Although all contribute what they can, Charlie has offered more than most, and is deserving of my personal thanks, and at the very least, the cooperation of all Virginia Patriots.

Please direct any and all alternative communications questions and suggestions to Charlie, through this Discussion group. He is quite knowledgeable on the subject, and has access to almost infinite info sources. I trust him completely.
Thanks Charlie!
First, lets list a general geographic area where we "exist" for relay purposes, maybe ad-lib if you could go mobile with any type of existing equipt you have as well.

have old 23ch SSB cb base w/12v ability and 10 meter antenna that loaded well in the past. Also have pair gmrs handhelds @ 5watt tx.
Hello
I have already ask the members in Virginia to contact me with their location so I could get their location and figure out a way to link everyone together. I am hoping we can get enough people to go across the state, then across the country. But first we got to get Virginia, we to talk, from the ocean to Bristol and from the southernmost part to the Northern. We need to get everybody together. I got to get a better aerial for my radio. IM in the process of getting a ham license. I have both radios can only listen on the ham as of now. I have both a mobile and a base CB.

Hey Charlie,

My name is AJ and I live in SWVA in Tazewell. I have experience in Network Administration, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, limited electronics etc. I am a quick learner as well. I have a YAESU VX-170 handheld 2 meter HAM. I would like to get my HAM license as well as I know this will probably be the only steady comms in the near future.

I would like to talk to you by phone if possible.

Regards,

AJ

Hi AJ:

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I got wrapped up in the Super Bowl and my Steelers are losing.  I am also studying for my HAM license, and I should be ready by this Summer.  It has just been too cold for me to get out and go into Roanoke to study, but I have been doing a lot of online tests.  I am in a wheelchair and getting out at night is a little hard for me.  If you want I can give you their e-mail address for the HAM radio testing in Roanoke.  They meet on Tuesday nights and tests are held once per month.  Maybe we could study together.  My telephone number is (540) 982-2232 home and (540) 330-2884 cell phone.  Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regard,

Charlie

Hey fellas,

I'm actually picking up a cb and inverter tommorrow so I'll be up and running in a little bit, I might be able to get an amp to assist with range but we all know that's kinda a grey area. I think we should have a list created of localities so we can create an information chain that can overlap!
