Tried a couple Ramline 30 round mags that failed miserably. They are a plastic and the bullets will simply not stay in the mag as they are loaded. Attempting to add more 8 round mags is turning into a real bear as well. Seems that they come in various sizes. Suggestions please? What I would really like to do is to have three eight round mags of original equipment.

Not sure, my research says the main complaint is that there is a mag claimed to be OE that is 1/100th of an inch too long front to back. That's the problem I'm running into with the blue mags. The site Olive Tree provided has experienced this but accept returns and replace them until they fit. They offer the higher capacity mags as well but who wants to heat up the barrel on an emergency tool? {8<{) Thanks for the input Marine68

Wow!! I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT SITE NEVER CAME UP IN MY SEARCHES BUT I SURE AM GLAD YOU LINKED IT TO ME. So now I'm a few dollars poorer and an S4 Repo Depot richer! Thanks a ton!!

Got my mags and only one of them fit. {8<{( well... maybe {8<{) mixed feelings here. Since only one of them fit I got out the old magnifying glass and studied them all a little closer. What I'm seeing is this Along the inside of the mag there is a reinforcement plate spot welded to the outer casing. Along either side this creates on the mags that do not fit a thin lip. On the mags that fit, there is no lip as both pieces of metal are exactly flush the entire length. I'm thinking now that the mags are not being made in different sizes but are the result of sloppy Quality Control. Anyhow the old bench grinder is coming out and I'll update with the results. {8<{)

With aftermarket magazines stick with the ones that have metal feed lips only. It will cost more but it will last longer and work.

Roger that. I learned that from the best school FUBAR U! Looks like the fix on these is pretty simple. Lips don't need much trimmed off,; just a tad. Not enough to interfere with the tack welds if I don't overheat it on the grinder. I'll put together pics so you folk can get a better idea of what up.

Well I proscratinated enough and finally took a dremmel tool with a grinding wheel to the mags. At the top of each I found the problem where two sheets of metal are layered and formed into an open triangle to reinforce the thing. I ground those down just the tiniest and in ten minutes all was good and operable. So the source of supply is great even if a tiny adjustment is required. {8<{)

AR-15 VS. SU-16 9 Replies

My home group and I have decided to standardize our ammunition and have chosen the 5.56 NATO round as our standard so that when the time comes, we can exchange ammo and mags in the heat of battle if need be. None of us want to be caught running out…Continue

Will I be setting myself up for my rounds to jam? 42 Replies

I prefer to remain in a constant state of readiness, and as such I am thinking about leaving two 30 round mag's loaded (1 with standard 5.56 and 1 with "green tipped") however, I have heard that leaving the rounds in the mags could compromise the…Continue
