I live in town so target practicing with my real guns is out of the question. What does the group think on using similar type BB guns to practice when I can't go to the range? Also as far as using a BB rifle to target practice will 30 feet be long enough (the widest part of my yard)?

Permalink Reply by vet4freedom on March 31, 2012 at 7:34am I also shoot in my back yard . from the back steps to the fence its 50 feet 9 1/2 inches . i have a 4x4 piece of plywood nailed to the fence with a picture of someone we all love . the guy nextdoor has called the police on me a couple of times . the police tells him to go back in his house and to mind his own damn business. i had one officer take a few shots himself . we are now good friends and go shooting together . LMAO
Permalink Reply by Bob Bidwell on April 15, 2012 at 5:16pm I had a 3 hour drive to practice with shotgun, rifle, and pistol, until the family sold off the property. Couldn't/can't afford to buy it or another. Scraped by to join 2 clubs for a bit, one pistol, the other anything, but quite a drive. Down to the pistol club where we have 2 groups for kids to learn safety & firearms shooting. Don't get to shoot much, still $$$ issues (4 kids of my own - one in 2nd year in college, one going next fall & one after that, plus a grandson) But we can shoot air rifles and .22s at the pistol club so I practice with them as I can. Can't shoot in any yard, neighbors too close. But I find that when I can get to the bigger rifles, one or two practice shots is all I need. So there is a benefit to practicing CORRECTLY with the the light stuff.

My home group and I have decided to standardize our ammunition and have chosen the 5.56 NATO round as our standard so that when the time comes, we can exchange ammo and mags in the heat of battle if need be. None of us want to be caught running out…Continue
