No one is sowing discord here.
No one expects everybody to attend the event. Many of you are reading much more into it than is actually there. We all know and fully expect that not all of the site can attend. But why is it members don't or won't use the "Share" features and post it elsewhere to let others know about it? Collectively & TOGETHER we can get the word out, but it takes everybody's participation. One person can't do it alone. You might not be able to attend, but who is to say your friends and neighbors can't? If you don't let them know about the event, who is going to tell them? It's just like so many other issues out there that could be changed if people would just learn how to use the share feature and USE IT!
Here's the deal: Most of you who are active on other social networking websites have quite a few friends. Most of my friends circles have anywhere from a couple of hundred to several thousand friends on each of their friends' lists. All it takes is for you to use the share options or invitation links to let everybody on your friends list know about it.
