Tropical Activity is starting to wind down. A new storm developed over the past 48 hours, Tropical Storm Oscar. This storm is weak in natural (Max winds only at 50 mphs) and is on a NNW direction away from the US towards Africa.

The US Drought Monitor is showing some shrinkage is the size of the extreme and Exceptional drought areas (D3 and D4). This is possible due to the early winter storms that has arrived in the Midwest and northern Rocky Mountain areas.  This dose not mean that the Drought is over, by no means, but it dose indicate that we are beginning to get ahead of the game when it come to this devastating drought. If this winter season is a good one with a large amount of snow then maybe we can begin to make up lost ground.

The US Wildland Fire Preparedness Level remains at a level 2. Most wildland fires are in the Northwest of the US and hopefully the weather will have good effect on these fires.
