I just posted a comment on one of William Wallace's video posts. (See below) It is very important that we present ourselves as proffessionals to the citizens we serve, not as armed terrorists, gun-toting rebels, and insurrectionists - which we are not! Words and terms count. They form part of the lasting impression we leave on citizens, whose support we need, and on potential recruits, whose patriotism and dedication we need. It is critical that we begin to raise awareness of local area militias and dispel the myths sustained by the media. But that awareness must be positive, it must be accurate. My comment to Mr. Wallace addresses such an example of negative misrepresentation.

"Mr. Wallace...your repeated use of the term "militia" to describe rebel forces and insurgents in the middle eeast is both erroneous and ill-advised on several levels. It is thie casual use of the term that leads our fellow citizens to equate the Constitutional Militia in this country with the government-overthrowing rebels in other countries. That is not the objective of the militia units in this country - in fact our objectives are generally just the opposite! We are formed to aid and assit local authorities when and where needed, not to topple national governments. Additionally, many of the foreign groups you label militia are not, in fact, so labeled by the media originating the reports. They generally are using the proper terminology. Considering the struggle our American militia units are having to dispel the myths of our goals and intentions, I'm sure they would appreciate you properly referring to American militia groups as such and not equate them with foreign insurgents, terrorists, and rebels.
