Texas Militia at the Self Reliance Expo and where are some people going with their Groups

Mercboy, aka Charles Foy, and I were present at the Self Reliance Expo in Mesquite this past Fri and Sat Feb 10-11. It was a great show with lots of vendors with great stuff for those preparing for SHTF.
We were given a free booth by the organizers and they were the best of hosts and great people to know. We look forward to doing more of their shows and others.

We had the WRAM site on laptops to show people and expect that there will be new members joining over the coming days from all over. So be prepared.
We were there to help inform people about the Militia and their first line of Defense as it is spelled out in our Constitution, and by law. There was a steady stream of people who came by and Mercboy and I were kept very busy talking to all of them. The reception was about 80/20 with 80% very interested and 20% that were uninterested or flat refused to acknowledge our presence. A great show indeed.

It helped that the one Firearms dealer at the show was also right next to us and drew an even larger crowd to our booth. It was interesting to see at one point that people were bidding their time checking out the weapons while waiting patiently to talk to US!! Throughout most of the show we had a steady crowd of 3 -8 people always mingling around our booth listening in to what we were informing people of concerning the Militia.
The "Texas Militia" of texasmilitia.org also had a booth at the show and this proved to be very interesting to say the least. Let me give you the details as to why and how they were so helpful in driving recruits to our booth. Also to fill you in on the things we heard and saw over the two days that will also help everyone out there doing the same at these shows.
All the Dot Org members, as I will refer to them, were there in full multi-cam uniforms, head cover and all. Most of the people we talked to said that the uniforms were a put off and they did not talk to them because of their appearing like Militants. So keep this in mind next time you want to go out publicly in uniform, most people DO NOT like it!! That was the consensus of those we spoke with.
We spent a large amount of time explaining to folks how we, in civilian clothes, and they in their uniforms were different.
We simply told the truth of the matter.There was no "trash talking" as we were being accused of. We were merely giving the people the information we had straight from the Dot Org Command.
Recently Mercboy, in his duties as liaison to the North Texas Groups, had contacted one of the texasmilitia.org groups here in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. He did so to find a more local group for himself as well as make contact for the benefit of all the Texas Groups.

After making contact he was informed on Dec 20th that their next training would consist of this:

 

"topics anticipated presently are Military Protocol: Uniformed Services, Search of Individuals and Vehicles, and Road Block/Entry Control Point/Vehicle Control Point/Search & Detainment."

 

He then was sent this message concerning Certs that are now mandated by their HQ:

"Team:
Please remember to have the CERT training completed no later than by our February 2012 meeting per Capt. .

After looking into the Cert they were asking for the organization that gives out the Certs is affiliated and recognized by FEMA!! Mercboy asked them about this cert and why it was needed and was told this:

"Several reasons why the CERT training is a benefit.
One, its good training. Our Militia will be mirroring the training of our Military, Paramedics and any other organization that we feel provide guidelines and instruction that will benefit our mission.
Two. The Texas Militia is in a process of gaining positive brand recognition. Having the ability to interact with relief efforts in a disaster situation with other organizations with our certified members will create a positive influence among the community and local municipalities. Allowing the Texas Militia easier access into problem areas that may require our attention.
Three. This has been decided from higher command, and it has been directed, not prompted, to all of the members to receive this certification. Of course this is a volunteer organization, and there are many other Militias to choose from that may not require this training. However, we do."

 

It was also helpful that in their own brochure, which many were more than happy to share with us, they state that Members are required to obtain a State issued CHL Concealed Handgun License. Not to mention that they were giving out applications for membership that goes above and beyond, name, address and phone number.
We are faced with this dilemma were we are being asked throughout the show,
"How are you guys different than those guys over there?"
How do we answer that?? They, the Dot Org folks, made it pretty simple...
Requiring members to obtain State and Federally recognized papers to join and be a member, training for "Uniformed Services, Search of Individuals and Vehicles, and Road Block/Entry Control Point/Vehicle Control Point/Search & Detainment." means that those affiliated with texasmilitia.org and condoning these practices makes them part of a Militant Organization, NOT a Militia.

Truth Hurts!!
We were explaining to people the "Militia" is every single citizen of the US, “the People”. It is just a matter of them wanting to step up and get active with their local group, or starting their own group. We were there to help them do that and inform them of what we believe to be the true Militia in Texas and across the country.

But this whole texasmilitia.org thing is a real issue for everyone in this state and these matters need to be addressed.

The way in which Mercboy was treated by the “Command” was appalling when he questioned their practices he was told:

Cpl Foy,
Please refrain from unsolicited conversations via email concern(ing) the direction and training of the Texas Militia. I will not tolerate dissent or personnel trying to stir up doubt in Trinity Company. Your role as a Cpl in our unit is to salute smartly and get it done.
Otherwise follow the 1Sgt's direction.

Trinity Company CO"

 

Eventually they finally sent him this:

Based upon a general consensus and unanimous decision, we have decided to move Trinity Company forward without your participation. We require a positive attitude and the ability to assimilate into our Unit with minimal interference or objections.
As of this time, you are no longer a member of the Texas Militia, Trinity Company and we respectfully request you cease all representation regarding the Texas Militia and Trinity Company.
Our decision is final and there is no recourse for reinstatement at this time.
We wish you the best of luck."

 

My personal opinion is that if you want people to assimilate, salute smartly and get it done, then you need to go back to the Military. We are volunteers and not soldiers. The leaders of the Militia should treat their members with the utmost of respect and dignity. Anything else is NOT serving the good of all involved.
And why are they so adamant about “the ability to assimilate into our Unit with minimal interference or objections.”??? Are they saying that those who serve under them are insignificant and mindless drones to do their bidding??
Their certifications and licensing is alarming, and their choice of training subjects is downright scary.
Are TexasMilitia.org and the people behind it turning themselves into a Militant Organization?? Based on the information I have seen over the last couple of months, and the information gained from those we talked to at the show, the answer is an alarming YES!!
I carried the rank of Corporal with the Dot Org, and was appointed as CO Recruiter for North East Texas when the organization was under the leadership of Kevin Cress. I never recognized the rank and accepted the recruiter position as that was what I have been doing here from the beginning of my involvement with the Militia.
A lack of communication and issues with the sharing of rosters led to mine and others disassociation with Mr. Cress and TexasMilitia.org. Even back then the push for uniforms and rosters was a problem, albeit a slight one in comparison. We held no ill will towards Cress or his organization; we just disagreed as to how things should be done and what we would comply with to be involved with them.
Now it seems that Kevin Cress has given up the website and the organization and it has now been taken over by persons who seem to have even more radical ideas about what the Militia is and how it should be organized.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone either in these groups or anyone who has had dealings with them. It is imperative to us all that we know who is who out there and exactly what are their intentions, designs or plans. This is all a part of standard operational security for any group and vital to insuring the safety and security of all of our Members.
Also, I would ask any of you who are as concerned as I and others are about the direction that texasmilitia.org is going to contact them through their website, or contact me and I will pass along the good “Commanders” email address.
People are waking up and unfortunately they are being misled by these Organizations calling themselves Militia, who have no real clue as to what the Militia is. They are being led astray by, in most cases, former Military who think that the Militia is also military in nature and should be run as such.
They cannot be more wrong and more dangerous to our cause.
In two days of just speaking with people as a fellow concerned citizens, informing them that the Militia is simply a Civil Defense force of local citizens preparing for any eventuality, we gathered 2 pages of contacts, handed out hundreds of brochures and thankfully were there to give those folks the right alternative to what they were hearing and seeing through the “Texas Militia” Dot org.
Had we not been there what impression of the “Militia” would those many people in attendance have walked away with??

Mercboy,, not one person defriended me on FB over this!! However i did get other friends request over it!! Now just what does that say???? It goes like this,,,,,, UNIT ATONOMY IS A MUST!! Those that seek to control state wide will meet resistance to that CONTROL!! I think we as a people have enough tyrannts to deal with,, we dont need those tyrannts among us!! Everyone who has tried to build a state wide control of militia has failed,, check into it!! I to have seen those deletions come about on that website as well!! I concure with ETX Patriots responce to Mr. Rodman!! My advice to Mr. Rodman is this.. GET OVER YOURSELF AND BUILD A STRONG ATONOMOUS CITIZENS TEXAS MILITIA!! If Mr. Burnside and Mr. Rodman get with unit atonomy,, then WRAM will back their efforts not resist them!!

You said that "There is NO "Supreme Commander" in our organization" and then "Kevin Cress stepped out and appointed Craig Burnside as Commanding Officer of the Brigade, promoting him to the rank of Colonel, me to Executive Officer and nothing was said about a "Supreme Commander"...

So by your admission you were appointed by Mr. Cress. Not your members!! Did you or any of your Commanders consult with the members of your organization as to what was being mandated and required??? Or do you just give orders and expect them to Salute and do as they are told?

Then you state that, "I control it!" Seems that control thing just won't go away with you guys.

So which is it Mr. Rodman?

Control it however you want. Run it like the military you hold so near and dear. If people choose to follow you and their lead, oh well. Best of luck to you and them. Guess we will see who out there is willing to work with you, won't we?

What you and the others with your mindset fail to even begin to comprehend is that it is not about YOU, it is not about me, or Mr. Foy. It is about what is on that patch and what it should stand for.
Here is one of the patches out there:
Some have "Don't Tread On Me" on the bottom.

It says "Texas Militia" that is representative of the Civilian Volunteers of our State who stand at the ready to Defend ourselves within our State. That's it. The only requirement to join is being a Citizen of the State.

It is not the Military Forces of the State. Nor is it the Assistance and Defense forces of the State. It is just Texas Militia not what you or anyone else would try to make it be under your Control.

It has also come to my attention that the "website" you keep telling everyone to go read, texasmilitia.org, has recently removed the post "From The Colonel" and changed the wording quite a bit since we started this "pissing contest" as you call it.

You recently joined this site on Feb 17th, I'm assuming to handle damage control. I commend your sense of Duty to defend your fellow members. Just as we are defending them all. But, why are the FACTS of the matter being removed from your website? Why are you now the spokesperson for the group? Where are the responses from Burnside, Henderson, and Powelson regarding their treatment of Mr. Foy, their own emails stating that Certifications were mandated by command, and the disregard of anyone not associated with that website and your group?

Damage Control is so easily recognized. The misdirection, the altering of the evidence, the fervent self promotion, it always the same every time. Cover your own A..! Build yourself up and attempt to tear the others down.

You can attempt to disregard this as a "pissing contest", as "contentious and creating dissention", but what this is about is making sure that NO ONE can attempt to CONTROL anyone. You and yours can only lead those that willingly follow you, nothing more. Mandating certifications, asking for CHL's to utilize back ground checks, and modeling yourselves as a Military are not what many believe the Militia to be. I for one will always be ready to explain to people about the dangers of following this ideal of the militia.

The FACTS are that Mr.Foy was contacted by Trinity Company and he approached them as a Liaison to other groups seeking a local group to train with. When he learned of the Certification that was required and he asked questions. He was reprimanded, he was insulted, and then he was told he was no longer part of the "Texas Militia".

Mr. Long, I will only guide you to our web site for the truth. I am the 2nd in command of the TXMADF and know the situation, I control it! In no way will I continue this pissing contest with you or any other malcontents. If you want to beat your gums about us and continue to run your mouth, I suggest you do your homework or ask me what the truth is before posting anything further detrimental to our cause.
We are doing things the way we are for obvious reasons and for you or your self appointed militia liason Mercboy to continue to propagate lies is taking up valuable time we all need to prepare. So I suggest you take this down and let those who want to know the truth contact us through our web site and you concentrate on building your organization. As for war fighting capability you had best have more years in the military than I have with command and combat experience before you question our methods.
As for the Texas Militia patch, that was Kevin Cress' patch and I do not understand any of you who broke away from him wanting to continue to wear that patch. Beyond me, but do as you wish there. There is no trade mark on it.
As for overwhelming response, we have gotten many inquiries wanting to be a part of this organization becuase of how we are doing things. I can not speak for the citizenry of Mesquite but I see the results of our web site and this site viewing this blog and they are good.
I find you and mercboy's efforts dishonorable, contentious and creating dissention when you should be concentrating on the task ahead. As I said, I will no longer participate in this pissing contest, we have work to do and I don't have time for whiners or complainers.

Mr Rodman,

I find it disheartening that you continue to call Mr Foy and I names and that you still believe the LIES being told to you. Perhaps you should speak with your commanders about what they told us first before trying to shoot the messengers.

1. Your groups affiliation with a FEMA associated certification program came from your Lt Col Burnside and 1st Sgt Powelson by email. Their own emails stated that the Certification was required, and no, it is not posted on your website. Not being posted on your site is the only thing you got right.

2. On this matter we both agree. Based on the emails from your command though, they are looking to work with a lot more agencies than the local Sheriff. Who is the LEO we all agree we want to work with if possible as long as they are upholding their oaths.

3. How you run your group is your own business. UNLESS, the practices of that group are detrimental to current members and potential recruits. We are bringing the practices of your command to light, NOT attacking you as a member.

4. I did not associate you with any group, I simply asked if TMADF was affiliated with that other group. Thank you for answering my question.

5. Based on the interaction between Burnside, Henderson, and Powelson, you do have "supreme commanders". Those who would tell their people to "salute smartly and get it done" when all they are doing is asking questions about the Group. Refusing to simply answer legitimate concerns, and then attempting to remove that person for asking, are clear signs of those with "Control Issues". And you may want to go back and read the message "From the Colonel", obviously your reading comprehension is lacking in areas. And again with the name calling. It really shows your intelligence level Sir when you do that.

6. Once again you attempt to divert the blame to Mr Foy. He is NOT SELF APPOINTED in his duties as a liaison. He has been given the title by many groups. He has been a liaison in North Texas longer than some of your members have been in the Militia. Mr. Foy, has the full support and backing of many Militia Members and Groups.

He, and I were, not attempting to detract or create disharmony. He especially, was simply bringing the information he received from your COMMAND to light and to the attention of anyone looking for a group to join with. Once again you do yourself a disservice by shooting the messenger.

Please do visit their website and read it. Find out what they posted. Then read the emails from them and what they had to say about the certifications and the CHLs in their own words.

Just because the website doesn't list the mandates, the emails from the Officers of your group say otherwise. See my recent blog with all the emails posted to read for yourself.

I would like to know who the Mediator was that you spoke to?? Why was there, and has there not been, any response from Burnside to these matters??? Why did he choose to post on the website instead of replying to an email???

You say look at the facts, well the facts as I know them are that Burnside refused to respond to our emails. When there were questions about the Certificates and CHLs they went on the defensive and tried to exclude Mr. Foy, even going so far as belittling and reprimanding him for just asking questions. 

Responses to questions were not directly addressed, there was only a posting on the TXM website.

You want the facts Mr. Rodman, I am posting the emails to my blog from Mr. Foy to the Members of TMADF for you to read for yourself.

And quit calling people names it makes you seem like a 3rd grader upset about not getting their turn on the slide at recess.

Gentlemen, I have had enough of your lies and will say only this as we in the Texas Militia Assistance and Defence Forces have far more serious issues to train for. I have been with this organization for two years now and have seen personality clashes, pissing contests that have caused splits and they do nothing but hurt the movement and ultimately the warfighting capability of the TXM. I witnessed Kevin Cress' organization almost crater and this is why we have done some things differently. I will NOT watch that happen to such a good organization so let me answer a few erroneous issues being put forth by Mr. Long and Mr. Foy. If you want please check out our web site and see for yourself what the truth is! Certainly not what these two wannabes are putting out to you. Anyone with any common sense can look at our site and see that 1. We are NOT affiliated with FEMA nor do we have ANY intentions of doing so. We are training first responders and there are various on line courses called CERT training. Want to get run out of town quickly? Show up with no credentials to a disaster and see.
2. The Texas Militia Assistance and Defense Forces is doing what every citizen should do. By working with local law enforcement we are disspelling the NEGATIVE image of the militia movement that some of you wannabes are creating!!! However, the TXMADF will NEVER stand for rounding up citizens or disarming them or doing anything against the Constitution of the United States or of the State of Texas! We will NOT obey unlawful orders to do that to anyone. We WILL help them in time of disaster or chaos should that become necessary or on the border if we are asked.
3. We are doing things according to military standards and organizing as such to combat a potential enemy that is well funded, trained, motivated and supplied. We are doing so and that is our choice. If you want local groups with no leadership that is your right to do so as IT IS OUR RIGHT TO DO THINGS IN THIS MANNER!!!
4. Mr. Long and Mr. Foy are putting out lies in the fact that we are affiliated with the Republic of Texas group which is subversive. LIES gentlemen all lies. We have NO connection or affiliation with them or ANY subversive group! We swear and oath of allegience to the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Texas and as for requiring CHL's, that helps us to background checks on recruits. It is NOT a requirement to have a CHL! Read the web site! We prefer you have one but again, it helps keep convicted felons and nutjobs like the ones putting out all this crap about us on this site!
5. There is NO "Supreme Commander" in our organization and WE as an organization have in no way made any declaration that any militia group outside our own is null and void! How ludicrous and bombastic these two wankers are! Kevin Cress stepped out and appointed Craig Burnside as Commanding Officer of the Brigade, promoting him to the rank of Colonel, me to Executive Officer and nothing was said about a "Supreme Commander"...
6. Mr. Foy appeared at Trinity company wanting to be a part of that unit but as a self appointed " liason" between militia groups. Continued to be a detractor and create disharmony amoung our troops and was asked to leave the told to leave as he tried to argue again with command.

These two trouble makers have created enough hate and discontent and are even bordering on slander. Why? Because it's not thier idea to start with? Who knows but to the word smiths I say this. Tell the truth and do your research and know the truth before you start in on anyone else. We have even gone so far as to contact a moderator on this site and tell him our side and the truth and got no response from him then all of a sudden he is telling everyone he has tried to arbitrate a peaceful settlement and has contacte us. For those of you who have friended others in the above category, I would recommend that you de-friend them immediately.  They and their head Mr. Long and Mr. Foy have started a campaign to discredit us by utilizing the face book medium and on their individual web sites including the Well Regulated American Militia web site.  Obviously having not thoroughly done thier research these two and others of their caliber are posting that we require FEMA certification before enlistment and require CHL’s.  There is nowhere on our site that states we are affiliated with FEMA, not even mentioned on our site.  We do ask that all members obtain their CHL within six months of enlistment but that is for background checks and to keep out felons who cannot legally possess firearms.  They are saying much about us being an Unorganized Militant Militia.  We are organized in military fashion and are preparing to battle a well-trained enemy of professionals and these other militia members who want to sit around and try to slander The Texas Militia Assistance & Defense Forces, are going to die in short order because they are not prepared for a true battle against a well-trained enemy.  I assure you that WE will prevail in battle.  So I ask that none of you stoop to their level by arguing with them as this is exactly what they want.  However, arguing with this type of mentality is useless and we need to focus all of our energies on training for battle, not trading emails with these people.  May God have mercy on them when it hits the fan.
